Shri Tapovardhan was the grandson of Bharat Ratna awardee, Dr Bhagwan Das, andson of Padma Vibhushan awardee Shri Prakash, the then governor of states - Assam, Madras and Bombay respectively and younger brother of General Secretary of the Centre is Smt. Sudhawati Agarwal. He was a pilot by profession and was posted at Air Deccan Airways. He believed that food played a vital role in making a person healthy. After getting injured in a plane crash, he was unable to recover during the treatment and died prematurely at the age of 32 in October 1956 in Bangalore.
The name of the Centre was Prakritik Chikitsa Kendra but afterwards, in his memory, it was renamed as the “Tapovardhan Prakritik Chikitsa Kendra”.
